Bus tales

A lot has been happening on the bus lately. I sometimes think that my life would be completely uneventful if it weren't for the strange things that happen to me on the bus.

Today as I was preparing to get off the bus, a couple of young guys were talking about me. I thought it was funny because they were about 19 or 20 years old and were talking really loudly. I was feeling pretty hot today, I had just dropped a mint at the mall, the sun was shining, and my hair was awesome, and now I had some hot young thing checking me out. Decent. One of them was about to talk to me when his friend said "Dude, she's like, 12 man." I was so shocked that I just got off the bus. I look 12? How the hell did that happen? Last month I was in the dumps because I'm almost 30! Little did I know that I'm really single because I look pre-pubescent!

Now for the ugly. I was heading to work last week, it was the first nice sunny day in a long while. I was wearing my favorite Capri's and flip flops. Again, feeling pretty hot. The bus was packed with old ladies, so I stood at the front of the bus, near the driver. I got to work and was getting changed into the dreaded uniform. Somehow my nice, white dress shirt had got stained with purple overnight. As I had no immediate remedy for my situation, I put it on anyways. As I was buttoning it up, I found that my shirt was now also missing a button in a rather unfortunate place. How did that happen? It sucks, but I can live with my stained peek-a-boob shirt. I was folding up my favorite Capri's when I noticed that the ass had ripped! OMG! I got on a packed bus and stood at the front with the ass of my pants ripped!

Strangely enough, I am much more upset about the pants than I am about showing half of the city my pink underwear.

Opportunity knocking

Does anyone have a vehicle and a couple hours to spare? half a million books are going on auction on thursday in Coquitlam. Prices should be pretty cheap, as there is a huge amount of books up for grabs. I want to go and buy a pallet or two (that equals about 4000 books) depending on the price. But there is no way for me to do this without a vehicle.
What will you get for your efforts? Gas money, eternal gratitude, dinner and drinks and one hell of a workout.
Where are the books going? possibly to a storage locker at Braid station. Or else to my living room....
Anyone interested in helping me? I'm 100% serious
Thanks to those that offered their services, very much appreciated! A friend emailed me a ton of pictures of the books. I was not too thrilled, the books were good, but not the type that would fly off the shelves. Normally I wouldn't care how long it took for a book to sell, but if I had 4000 books in my livingroom, that's like a whole different story. I'm not sure that I can stand keeping 4000 books for more than 2 months. It would probably take me at least 2 months to list all of them, and then I would have to wait for them to sell. I have visions of Salem climbing the book piles, and I would be found by the police smothered under a pile of books, half eatten by my cat.
Let's not.

Hyack

The songs have been burned into your head. You know the dances, you probably still have the frilly dress you wore. If you live in New West, then you already know that it is the Hyack festival! So much to do! Wednesday at 12 is May Day. And Saturday is the parade and pancake breakfast and street fare at 6th and 6th. The petting zoo is now open for the summer, and so is the spray park if it wasn't so cold.
As I was looking for pictures of the NWSS marching band in their awful uniforms, I found the NWSS music department website. Back when I was a band geek, the big band trips were to Anaheim and San Fran. Times have changed, they went to NYC this year!

I saw you

Yes I am still reading the I saw you's. This one is funny.

Crazy depressed hot girl on Skytrain - May 2 - m4w - 31

It was the 2nd time I saw you on Skytrain. The first time your eyes were puffy from what looked like a long crying session. My brother and I agreed that we wanted to cheer you up cause you were totally hot. At the same time I was afraid to say hi because you looked like you might go crazy. Crazy like "throw shit at me and accuse me of shit that was the fault of your shithead boyfriend".

This time I saw you again and text messaged my brother who was standing a few feet away from you. You still looked crazy but you didn't look like you've cried in a while, maybe the anti-depressants are sorta working. You still looked totally sad but also totally hot. Like totally crazy in bed hot.

Maybe we can have a coffee or something. Caffeine is an anti-depressant you know.

Insulting a person is not the best way to get them to go out with you. Who knew that crazy and puffy, red eyes were hot? I'll have to try that next time I go out. Oh and coffee isn't an anti-depressant, but it is a stimulant.

BENJI

Benji is Dad and Judy's cat. He is about a year and half old, and full of energy. I have had requests for picture updates of their baby.

The 'get to know you' stage of their relationship. Benji came for a sleepover last weekend to make sure that he and Salem would get along.

Followed by the hiding and pouncing stage.

And the adventure stage. Benji is learning about the dogs that live downstairs.

And they are now in the BFF stage. It only took 2 days.

Birthday

Well, now that the Canucks are out of the playoffs, I can catch up on other blog stuff. A couple weeks ago was my birthday.

We went for a walk that turned into a 2 and a half hour hour hike. It was nice.

A cool nurse tree

Birthday rose flavoured Creme Brule courtesy of Christina. It actually tasted like roses! My new favourite dessert

GAME 5

Big game tonight. I have done all the superstitious things possible. I washed and dried my canucks towel. I looked for a duck to kick, but no dice. I have been answering my phone "Go Canucks Go" for a week. I personally feel that I have done my bit. It's now up to the team.

The pre-game hotties are not exactly 'hot' but once upon a time they scored goals.

Which one is which?

Just for the record I am not a puck bunny. A puck bunny is a chick who only likes hockey because the players are hot. I don't think I'm a puck bunny because I could hold a conversation about the strengths and weaknesses of the players, I choose not to.
I might be a soccer ball bunny though. mmmm Becks

Do you Quilt?

I want to learn how to quilt. Does anyone know how? Anyone want to teach me the basics? I've been trying to learn by reading online, but that doesn't really work so well. Like the time I tried to teach Sarah to knit via the webcam. It was a disaster. I have been checking out the videos on you tube on quilting, but it would be nice to learn from a real live person.

GAME 4 UPDATE: bloody ducks 3-2 in OT. The Canucks are down 3-1 in the series, the stats are really against the Canucks now.

GAME 3

Get ready for game three!!! I am very quickly running out of pre-game hotties, so instead I am now looking for the best hockey hair. Whitney suggested this guy....

This is why moustaches should never come back into style!
Stay tuned for an update!!

UPDATE- quacked again 3-2.

GAME 2.

Canucks won 2-1 in the second overtime with a weird goal by Cowan.

GAME 1.

Even though Squire Barnes is predicting that the Canucks will lose to the Ducks, I am predicting the Canucks will win.

So we need a new round of pre-game hotties for round two! There will be some recycling of hotties as the series goes on, but I promise new pics each game.

For game one, the pre-game hottie is:

Lou!

Roberto may or may not be related to these guys

Andy Garcia....

and.... Count Dracula

GAME 7

I'm a little worried about this game 7 business.

Our pre-game hotties this game are Brendan Morrison.

and Markus Naslund

Let's hope this isn't my last Canuck's playoff post.

While searching the net for hottie pics I've found some really strange stuff. I found this pic of a guy hopping over the glass onto the ice. Look at the faces of the people in the background. Too funny. I'm not sure what happened after this picture was taken. Whatever it was, he ended up with a neckbrace on a stretcher. (don't worry this pic is safe for work)

Stay tuned for an update.
UPDATE- Canucks are going to round TWO!!!!!
The goal score-ers:
The first goal was by Henrik

Trevor was next:

And then cutie Pyatt sealed it with an open next goal

And then like a minute later Trevor was super classy and passed the puck to Smolinski for the open net goal.

GAME 6

Pre game hottie....
We need a double-shot for extra luck

Big-Lips-Mitch work'n up a sweat.

And the man, the legend.....LOOOOOUUUUUUU.

Stay tuned for a post game update. I predict a riot.
UPDATE- 2-0 Dallas.

EARTH DAY

The following post is not hockey related...

This sunday is Earth Day!
Now would be the perfect time to change to a greener lifestyle! Well how'm I gonna do that you ask? Well lucky for you I've made a list!

1. Plastic. It's super bad. It never breaks down in landfills, and it is actually bad for your health. Without going into a big explanation, the use of plastics in household materials and food containers has been linked to girls getting their first period earlier than they used to (16 years about 100 years ago to 11 or 12 now). Pregnant moms should worry (or those who want to be moms) because plastics leach Estrogens into the food that we eat. This actually changes the organization of the baby's brain and it affects them for the rest of their life. It can also change the baby's reproductive organs making them sterile with a combo of boy and girl parts. All bad news. If you are wondering where I got this info from, I did a termpaper on this, and it is all from reputable medical journals. It is now becoming the consensus that plastic is not foodsafe and could be really detrimental to the health of little ones. My Earth Day contribution is to cut my use of plastics by a lot. I'm going on a plastic-detox. My plan includes: using canvas bags for grocery shopping, recycling more (most stuff I recycle), and trying to figure out a plastic-free way to pack a lunch. It's going to be a tough thing to change.

On with the list, easier changes:
2. your car. get rid of a gas guzzler in favour of a hybrid or more energy efficient car. Drive less, take public transit, and walk more. If you can walk, do! This is also an excellent way to lose weight and save money!!
3. change your light bulbs to the more energy efficient type. They last 5 years, before they burn out. So you will also be saving time not having to change light bulbs, as well as saving money on the cost of replacement bulbs and electricity!
4. Use cold water. Wash your clothes in cold water, and hang to dry when possible.
5. If you have electric heat registers shut them off at the fuse box in the spring. Did you know that they eat up energy all summer long?
6. Look into weather stripping windows and doors, I hear that this can really make a difference in the amount of energy spent in the winter on heating.
7. Buy locally grow foods. In the summer, this is just about the easiest change to make. The food grown way far away has to transported to where you are. But, if you buy locally grown produce, not only is it fresher with more nutrients, but it also requires less energy to get it to you.
8. Recycle. If don't do this already, you should! I have guilt tripped more than one person into recycling. I give out Recycler of the Year certificates to those I see making an extra effort. :)
9. If you live in an appartment and think that you can't compost, think again. You can Vermicompost! Dirt, newspaper (shredded), worms and a little water and veg scraps all in a rubbermaid tote with some air vents. Mix and wait. The micro-organisms eat the veg, the worms eat the micro-organisms and make dirt. Excellent way to teach kids about recycling, ecosystems, and why we always save worms who are drowning on the sidewalk when it rains. And it doesn't smell because you bury the veg.
10. I can't really think of a #10....

GAME 5

Uh yeah, Sorry for the delay I was busy failing an endocrinology exam... someone called in a bomb threat half way through too. I'm ok, turns out there was no bomb, and no it wasn't me who made the call. Anyways on to the important stuff like, the game 5 pre-game hottie pic!

One of my personal favorites. Kevin Bieksa. His stupid penalties are a bit of a problem though. But I'd still date him. I think the black and white pic adds a bit of class.

Stay tuned for a post game update. Who is the annonymous Canuck who is a faithful commenter?

UPDATE- crap. 1-0 Dallas in OT. Damn, and I was all ready to start a riot.

GAME 4

I thought I would go vintage for this posting. You know that in '94 you were all about him. Those big lips, the blue eyes and my god ... the dimples. Oh Pavel, where are you now? He probably has a comb over, but for a while he was the hottest Russian in town.

I love how my postings about the playoffs have digressed into a heated discussion about who is the hottest Canuck. For all you non-hockey fans, at least my blog is now a source of eye candy. I promise a non-hockey related post soon.

Game 4 update to follow...

UPDATE- The canucks won again 2-1. They are now leading the series 3 to 1.

Trevor had a very good game, so here's a picture of him. Hmmm, I wonder if anyone has named their son after him? Stay tuned for more hot canucks...

GAME 3

Game faces on, stay tuned for an update

Whitney didn't think that Taylor Pyatt was very good looking, so I have added a new pic for this game. No-neck-Brent Sopel. mmmm...mullet

Update- Canucks won 2-1. Thanks to a winning goal in 1st OT by Taylor!

GAME 2

2-0 Dallas. BOOO. I listened on the radio at work. It didn't sound like a very good game. All you Canuck fans out there- who's this cutie? Hint, he's on the team, and he isn't a twin. Also if you are looking to pick up some Canucks gear, my local Shoppers has a HUGE amount of Canucks stuff.

Also there is a new feature on my blog. A map that shows where people are that check out my blog. No surprises yet, Vancouver and Hong Kong.

GAME 1

A WIN 5-4. But for the love of Christmas Pete do you think we could do that in less that 7 periods? I can't commit to watching 5 and a half hours of hockey a night durring final exams. Thanks a bunch.

Well that's a relief

You Are 60% Normal

Otherwise known as the normal amount of normal
You're like most people most of the time
But you've got those quirks that make you endearing
You're unique, yes... but not frighteningly so!

Also a very good sign:

You Could Definitely Be a Vegetarian

You would make a great vegetarian - if you aren't one already.
You're adventurous enough to try all sorts of new veggie foods...
And your commitment to animal welfare will motivate you to stay meat free!

This is total crap! I'm way more Irish than that.

You're 40% Irish

You're probably less Irish than you think you are...
But you're still more Irish than most.

I also have good manners 78% of the time (sure) and my celebrity boob twin is a mix between Lucy Lawless and Chalize Theron. Obviously I was hoping for Scarlett Johannson or maybe Angelina. Damn. Thanks to Catherine for the time waster link on her blog.
