Meet Olly?

How many cats do you see? It's tough to tell, but there are three cats squeezed in that rubbermade tote. It's been about a month or so since Molly (my grandmother's cat) came to live with us. Molly's name has morphed into Olly because it sounds cooler, and because it was too similar to Marley. So from now on she's going by Olly. She doesn't know her name anyways, so it's ok. She is fitting in pretty well and has staked out "her" spots. She even has her favorite cat, Salem.

It's a misconception that cats are solitary critters, they are very social and like spending time together. It never occured to me until Olly came that some cats are cooler than others. In the cat world Salem is a cool kid. Everyone likes her the best and wants to play with her. I don't know why, what does it take to be a good cat friend?

Who knows. I'm just glad they all get along.

Who am I?

Have you ever "Googled" yourself?
If you don't know what I mean by that, you are a dinosaur.

On a rather glum Monday morning, mostly out of boredom, I typed in my name in quotations. I was surprised by what I found. Last night an old friend contacted me out of the blue, it had probably been 5 or 6 years since we had chatted. I started to wonder if someone was trying to find me, what sort of life would they think I was leading?

The very first "hit" was of a book review on Amazon.ca. I thought it was me until I realized that I have never read the book. I have an impostor in Winnipeg who likes Canadian history. It isn't completely improbable for someone to think that it was me. Heck, I even lived in Manitoba once.

The next hit was an accounting student at Waterloo. I hope people who knew me would realize that that so isn't me. Blah blah blah, lots of boring hits. Apparently another impostor ran the Oktoberfest 5km run way faster than I ever could. I didn't know that there was an Oktoberfest run, I figured nothing happened at Oktoberfest but beer. I wouldn't be offended if someone thought I was capable of running 5km in 39 minutes!

I might also be confused with a writer in Winnipeg who is in a group called "The Serenity Raincoats." I think it has something to do with science fiction role playing- ugh. I never understood sci-fi role playing. I'd rather be a real person.

And then... something surprised me. Ever get those annoying email petition requests? Usually I delete them and never think of them again. Apparently I didn't delete all of them. Terasen Gas. Did I ever really care about Terasen? I don't even have a gas bill! But there it is on the internet, my name & address. I'm much more upset about that than I am about Terasen Gas!!! The only other legitimate hit was from a genealogy website.

So, in sum, if someone were looking for me, then would surmise that I am a history loving accountant, who loves sci-fi role playing, running in Bavaria with strong socialist ideals about gas utilities. They would promptly stop looking for me, because clearly I became a super-freak.
