Bromley rock is along the Similkameen river, perfect for tubing. We piled in the car with our floaties and drinks.






The weather was more than a little crappy. It was cloudy, rainy, windy and cold. There were a few breaks in the clouds, so we jumped in the water. The water was cold, and none of us could last very long .

Camping part 3

It was seriously cold, the wind was really strong each day in the afternoon. Ryan was dressed in his snowboarding clothes, and the rest of us had all of the clothes we brought on.

We ate gourmet the entire weekend. Dinner on the last night included prawns, broccoli cheese rice, Greek salad, Nan bread and homemade Tzaziki

Cold campers ready to chow down

PNE

Time to catch up on blogging.
Last week Sarah, Ryan and I went to the PNE. The new attraction this year is the Chinese Acrobats. They are absolutely amazing, there were some parts that had me cringing because it looked so dangerous. Too bad the pictures didn't work out.

It was raining on and off all morning, we ate our lunch in a tent. That day was also Sarah and Ryan's 2nd anniversary! Yummy Indian food at the PNE.

What a day of eating! scones for breakfast, indian and mexican for lunch, mini doughnuts for snack, and then cotton candy for the road!
We also bought our tickets for the prize home. We weren't thrilled with the house, there were some strange things with the design, but hey, if I won it I wouldn't complain at all!!!

Squirrel

Yesterday I was walking through Queen's Park when something fell out of a tree at my feet. It was a baby squirrel! It looked a lot like these little ones, but a little darker in colour. I thought it must be dead, because it hit the ground so hard it bounced, but it was moving and crying. After panicking for a minute, and a couple phone calls, I decided to wait a while to see if momma squirrel was around. About 10 minutes later, a squirrel came along and stumbled across the baby. She sniffed it a little and then picked it up with her paws and shoved it in her mouth! At first I thought she was going to eat it, but I guess that's just what momma squirrels do. She scurried up the tree with the baby squirrel, and it was a happy ending.

Nana's Birthday

Last weekend we celebrated Nana's 91st birthday. It was a really nice sunny day, Sarah felt the need to rock out.



There was lots of nummie snacks, even sourdough fresh from San Fran.

The Ginger Drive Sweat Shop

Sarah and Shannon came over for another session of T-shirt making. This time that challenge was putting decals on baby clothes. There were many challenges and obstacles along the way. They had only bought one shirt, and only 2 decals remained, this meant that there was no room for error.

Everything was going along swimmingly when glue accidentally transferred onto the shirt. Disaster! We decided to put another transfer on top of the ruined one to hide the glue. Sadly, we forgot that there needed to be protective paper between the decal and the iron. Sarah immediately sensed that things were going badly. She promptly admitted defeat.


Faith was restored when a third decal was found. After a few tense moments, we were ready to try again

There isn't any sound, but it's a video of Salem and Marley playing. For some reason you tube has resized the video. It doesn't look all that great. But not bad for a first attempt.

420 Baseball tournament

This weekend was the 420 year-end tournament. The pressure was on as they were the defending champions. Sarah, Shannon and Darren came over the night before to make t-shirts for the event. We were the team cheerleaders for the weekend, copmlete with pom-poms. The shirts were a big hit and people on the team all wanted to wear the leftover shirts. The slogans on day one included "420's Ball washer", "Jesus loves the 420's", and "It's 420 time".



Brendan thought of an awesome idea and brought the supplies for a huge slip and slide. It was a very fast 100 foot stretch. Much better than the store bought one. Here's Pat getting a face full of soap.

Day 2 brought new outfits. These awesome shirts were much admired, Pat wore the third one: "Taking you to 420 town"



Cheering is much more difficult than you would guess. It's hard to keep the energy going when things are going bad, and by the end of the weekend my voice was nearly gone. We managed to come up with nicknames for nearly the whole team, and most people also got a personalized theme song/cheer.

For some reason I only took one game picture, and the person up to bat is on the other team!



While waiting for the last game to start, we broke out the body paint again. We also had those black under the eye sticker things. Ryan was being silly in his "It's 420 time" shirt.

3 games were played on day 2. The first was lost, but the next two were won. Which means that the team came in 5th

Marley

Marley is my new kitten. She likes the laptop, especially music videos. And typing, I have to lock her in the bedroom when I want to type. Her she is watching a video.

Salem and Marley get along very well. The two hot cats trying to cool off. It's hard to tell, but Marley is still tiny compared to Salem, she's only 9 weeks old. I am anxiously waiting to get my balcony screened-in so that I can open my sliding door again. These last few days have been very hot with all the doors closed!


UPDATE: the kitties love each other, and now sleep curled up together. I guess Salem looks like Marley's mom or something because Marley tries to nurse from Salem, and Salem allows it. It's very strange, I'm not sure what to do about it.

Joey's

On Canada Day, I met Whitney downtown for lunch. I wasn't sure which bus to take, so I asked the driver, sadly, the driver was wrong. I hopped off the bus when I realized, and called Whitney. Thank goodness for cell phones! I get lost a lot, without a cell phone I would never be found.

Time for lunch, off to Joey's. The restaurant has the craziest bathroom ever. When you walk in there is couch, mirror and a long staircase. This is the view from the top, the wall is copper, and there is a huge painting. The floors are slate and dark hardwood.

The toilets are in a loft. The sink is a trough-style~ they make me nervous because anything dropped in the sink is gone forever.

It was kind of hard to get pictures of the bathroom, I had to wait for a bulimic girl and her friends to leave. Finally they left, and I started snapping pics.

The food was pretty good too, I like the rooftop lounge, very nice. Recommended
