Hong Kong Part 1

After much delay, I am finally blogging about my trip to Hong Kong in the fall.  I found it difficult to blog on my tablet, and there was no way to transfer the pictures on my phone to the tablet.  I spent hours trying to find a way, but they just weren't compatible.  I started to worry that I might lose all my pictures, so I broke down and bought a cheap laptop.  I'm also stuck at home with a sinus cold and a stubborn temperature.  So voila!  Blog posts.

My flight was in the late evening, but I got dropped off several hours before the flight.  I had my pick of seats.

I arrived in the morning after a good flight.  We immediately went for brunch at Zak's not my favorite restaurant, but it has a great view of Discovery Bay

Suds took me on a bike ride tour of Discovery Bay.  I absolutely love it there.

Sarah and I went to the local bead/craft area.  It was raining heavily, Sarah put her phone in a Ziploc bag to keep it dry.  Ingenious, the touch screen can still be used through the bag.

We stopped for lunch at the mall in Kowloon.  At the food court 95% of the people were eating this.  A sizzling hot pot of rice, meat and spices.

I shared my bathroom with this character.  Sarah tells me he has lived there since they moved in.  Not counting the antennae, he is almost 2 inches long.  I went pee in the middle of the night and was absolutely horrified when he crawled out of the bowl as I sat down.  After that I gave him ample warning before I entered the room.

Halloween in Discovery Bay was amazing!  Ella as Rainbow Dash, Julia was Elmo and Suds was a zombie/doctor

Unlike in the city where no one celebrates Halloween, in Discovery Bay everyone goes all out.

Me as a pirate wench, Sarah as Strawberry Shortcake.  How much better is Halloween when it's warm!  It was also nice to be able to bring road pops

There were some great costumes!

There is a hand hanging out of the door.  When you touched it, you would hear screams.

Crafts!  Glow in the dark ghosts.

Crack a glow stick, put it in a balloon, blow the balloon up.  Put a face on the balloon and drape with cheesecloth.  I think they turned out great!

The palm tree in Sarah's back yard.  I came down with a wicked cold this day.

Off to Disneyland.  I was feeling pretty cruddy this day.  Love that the train has mickey shaped windows

Disney parade

Sarah, Julia and I spent the afternoon at Disneyland.  We each went on 1 adult ride, I can't remember the name, but it was in bear country.  I was sooooo much fun!

The castle looked beautiful all lit-up
